In case you missed it...NYSA's Annual 2020 Law Day was converted to a webinar series which aired in August  These webinar recordings are available for purchase for NYSA MEMBERS ONLY who may have missed the presentation on the original date.  These webinars received excellent feedback from the participants:

    • "Thousands of dollars of info for a fraction of the cost!"
    • "In depth...great clarity ...Each speaker was superb, and the interchanges between them were similarly insightful. This webinar captured both the vast set of issues and legal concerns and the practical aspects of planning and implementation."
    • "On target, great presentation, very interactive."
    • "All of the webinars this week were well worth time and fee. Excellent content!"
    • "Timely, thoughtful, well organized, and very useful."

The following recordings are available for $25 each:

    "PPP & Legislative Update"

Employment attorney and NYSA General Counsel Joel Klarreich, Esq. from Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP and Legislative Chair Jim Essey from the TemPositions Group of Companies will discuss recent legislative activity at the state and local level, including the newly enacted state sick leave law which provides for 56 hours of leave annually beginning September 30. They will also discuss continuing coronavirus legal issues including the implications of the President’s new executive orders. Then attorney Jason Rimland, Esq. from Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP will join the panel to discuss what you should be doing now to maximize PPP loan forgiveness and guard against audits. We’re packing lots of information into this kick-off session.

"The New Hidden Discrimination Danger: Stereotyping"

Join Richard Steer, Esq. from Tarter, Krinsky & Drogin LLP as he explains hat is stereotyping? Stereotyping of individuals means judging them based upon their legally protected characteristics (e.g., race, sex, etc.). This form of discrimination is gaining increased attention, especially in the workplace. Significant Court decisions recognize that stereotyping can violate employment discrimination laws. Stereotyping is also alleged to play a role in implicit bias and police misconduct which is still at the top of the news. Staffing companies must now be aware of the legal risk posed by stereotyping when placing candidates or dealing with their own employees.

"Complying with New York’s COVID-19 Safety Requirements and Suggested Revisions to Client Contracts"

For our final webinar of the Law Day series, employment attorneys Jason B. Klimpl, Esq., Deputy General Counsel and Elizabeth E. Schlissel, Esq. from Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP will provide an overview of New York State mandated return to work safety protocols and best practices to ensure the safety of temporary workers. Jim Essey, President/CEO of the TemPositions Group of Companies, will also join Jason and Liz in discussing practical operating solutions, including suggested revisions to staffing contracts in light of the new workplace safety requirements.

Cybersecurity is a concern for everyone in the staffing agency space, from local companies to large organizations. Most agencies, however, wouldn’t feel comfortable describing what cybersecurity means to their organizatn because so often it feels like a foreign subject.

In our webinar, we will cover real-life examples of how staffing agencies have taken ownership for knowing and managing their cybersecurity risk. We will also cover how to navigate a relationship with a third-party IT service provider and the right questions you should be asking about cybersecurity.

After completing this course you will be able to:

    • Identify common cybersecurity issues that may affect staffing agencies
    • Explain solutions to address common cybersecurity issues and recommended frameworks to follow
    • Describe success stories from other staffing agencies that have navigated difficult risk areas
    • Plan for next steps to guide your organization through a security strategy
    • List talking points to engage in conversation with your IT personnel (internal or external)
